Our latest CIW inspection: Excellent for Well-being

Care Inspectorate Wales inspection report 2026

We are delighted to share the results of our most recent Care Inspectorate Wales inspection, carried out in April 2026. We received an Excellent rating for Well-being, and Good ratings for both Care and Support and Leadership and Management. No areas for improvement were identified, and no Priority Action Notices were issued. We are incredibly proud of every member of the TLC team, whose dedication and warmth make results like this possible.

About the inspection

Tender Loving Care is registered with Care Inspectorate Wales as a Domiciliary Support Service. We support people in their own homes across the local area, helping them to live safely, comfortably and as independently as possible.

The inspection covered three areas: well-being, care and support, and leadership and management.

What inspectors found

The people we support told inspectors clearly what TLC means to them. One family member shared:

"My relative would not be here today if we didn't have the support of TLC."

A person using the service said:

"I couldn't ask for better care or a better team."

Feedback like this means everything to us. Our carers take the time to build real relationships with the people they visit. Care plans are personal, built around individual routines and preferences, and reviewed regularly to make sure they stay that way. Visits are never rushed, and the people we support have genuine control over how and when they receive their care.

Our team

Our carers are the heart of TLC, and the inspection reflected that. One staff member told inspectors:

"I feel very supported to do my job, the managers are so approachable and supportive, nothing is too much trouble."

Every member of the team goes through thorough recruitment checks before they start, including DBS checks and full reference verification. From there, a structured induction gives new starters the knowledge and confidence they need before they begin visiting clients independently. Training, regular supervision and annual appraisals continue throughout their time with us, because we believe that supporting our staff well is how we support our clients well.

Leadership and governance

Our Responsible Individual visits the service regularly, meeting with staff and the people we support to gather feedback and produce detailed oversight reports. We carry out audits across care delivery, medication management and staff practice on an ongoing basis, so that any areas for attention are picked up and acted on quickly, well before an inspection cycle.

No areas for improvement

We are pleased to confirm that no areas for improvement were identified during this inspection, and no Priority Action Notices were issued. That is a result the whole team should feel proud of.

Most of all, we want to thank the people we support and their families for welcoming our team into their homes and for trusting us with their care. It is a privilege we never take for granted.
