Three years ago, Lahiru Wickramasinghe left a career in finance and banking in Sri Lanka and arrived in North Wales to start something completely different. No obvious career path. No care experience. Just a values-driven decision to do work that actually mattered.

It turns out, that was exactly what TLC needed.

Olwen, one of TLC's founding directors, recognised something in Lahiru straight away. Something that no training course can give you:

Six months ago, Lahiru was promoted to Senior Carer and Client Assessment & Training Coach. He now supports the wider team, assesses new service users, and writes personalised care plans. He completed his Level 2 in Care along the way. Not bad for someone who was balancing spreadsheets three years ago.

Today he hits his three year milestone with TLC and earns an extra day of annual leave and a pay increase through our long service recognition scheme. A small gesture for someone who gives a lot.
